My first co-write with with the excellent vocal talents of Suzi Woods. A song partly inspired by the Positive Songs Project (positivesongsproject.org), and partly as an ongoing partnership. This was written during the awful lockdown period when Covid 19 hit the UK as a means of reminding us how simple things can bring joy even in the most trying of times. Half conversations about meeting so-and-so
If only they weren’t living on the fly
They’ve got a book full of foolproof excuses

Kicking off my shoes I go barefoot in the park
Surrounded by a symphony of birds
They’re singing for the couple sitting on the new mown grass
With looks that say “I love you” more than words
And oh the peace and how the joy overwhelms me
Till I’m feeling intoxicated
And all those things that I believed that I needed
In this moment, seem overrated
A summer shower, through the leaves begins to fall
See the couple running for the swings
I hear them laughing as the rain then starts to pour
While me I’m loving life and simple things
